DAY 9
LAST DAY IN DUBLIN AND THE JOURNEY BACK
Unfortunately we only spent one night in Generator hostel - with lots of other young people from all over the world. We loved lively Dublin with all the beautiful sights, the very many hen and stag night crowds and the endless options to shop and entertain yourselves.
After a bit of a sleep-in on that Sunday morning, we had a good breakfast, together with our entire class. Before enjoying the city one last time, we had already packed our cases and put the luggage into storage to be prepared for a quick departure at noon.
As soon as we arrived at the airport we met the other two classes from our school that took the same flight home .We all expected some trouble at Munich airport or at the the border due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
But in the end nobody was really interested in us and we had lots of fun during our trip home - without any complications. However, the moment we boarded the coach, we got a messsage from a classmate. In it he had forwarded us an article from the local newspaper. They had predicted we would be the last group of Austrians to be allowed to cross the German border - if at all. At first we all were slightly upset and confused, because we had been totally unaware of the dimension of the Covid-crisis. Then again, nobody even looked at the coach let alone checked upon us when crossing the border.
When we finally arrived in Klagenfurt in the middle of the night, everyone was pretty tired and exhausted, but our headmaster Dr. Krainz was there to welcome us and he even opened up the school for us. We could grab our books to be able to do home schooling during the following weeks of lockdown.
So all that is left to say is that we had a marvellous time in Ireland, in Dublin as well as in Galway. At first we encountered some complications with our host family, but thanks our teachers` effort, we were transferred to another family and they were lovely. The language classes were great fun, we had quite a cool teacher and so the time went by really quickly.
In our opinion the trip was a super opportunity to improve our language skills and to strengthen the bond with our classmates. In actual fact, it has been the best school trip so far and we are very grateful to our teachers Professor Ingrid Huber and Professor Birgit Simoner as well as to our parents for making it possible.
